When you have a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please do not call the Practice before the expected waiting time has ended.
Our Receptionists are not qualified to comment on results.
You are responsible for checking your results and arranging any follow-up appointments.
We will ask for some personal details when you call for results. This is to confirm your identify.
Our Receptionists will refuse to release medical information if it does not relate to the person calling.
Please call for for test results (eg blood, urine, x-ray) between 12pm and 3pm each day.
Tests arranged by your Hospital Consultant
If your test was at a Clinic or Hospital please call the Clinic or Hospital for the result. We cannot action any tests requested by Clinicians outwith the practice.
If the Clinic or Hospital tells you they will send the results to your GP, explain you want the results from the Consultant who arranged the test. They are the best person to give appropriate advice.
Information about your laboratory tests
The results of laboratory tests are not available online. You must call the Practice for these.
Specimens
You must hand in your samples to the Practice by 1pm. This is to make sure all samples go to the laboratory in time for processing. Note we will not accept samples handed in later in the day.
Please provide samples in a suitable container. Mark the container with your name, date of birth and the date of the sample. If your sample is not marked clearly it will need to be repeated. Only specimens requested by clinical staff will be processed.
